Ministry of Science and ICT to Foster ‘Intelligent Homes’ to Capture a KRW 3.7 Trillion Emerging Market
As intelligent homes emerge as a leading field of global digital innovation, the Korean government is moving forward with the full-scale implementation of the Intelligent Home (AI@Home) Project, which aims to integrate intelligent home systems into multi-family residential complexes. Major companies across various sectors—including Samsung, LG, LH, and Hyundai Engineering & Construction—are participating in the project.
The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), led by Minister Lee Jong-ho, announced the “Intelligent Home (AI@Home) Deployment and Expansion Strategy” at the Emergency Economic Ministers’ Meeting held on the 9th at the Government Complex Seoul. The strategy is designed to create new markets and improve the quality of life for citizens.
An intelligent home goes beyond the traditional smart home concept, which was largely limited to controlling individual devices via wall pads or AI speakers. Instead, it focuses on connecting household devices—such as appliances, lighting, and entry systems—through a single global standard and delivering personalized, AI-driven services.
